The Conundrum of Insouciance Adoration

Today I have decided to forgive you
A wise man once said
"With unity, we can do great things"
"Important things"
Does this mean
Holding the title of President of the United States
Does this mean
Being first in line for a lifesaving vaccine
Does this mean
Being gainfully employed with guaranteed income during a pandemic
That is unity I can ask for
But as is I have three strikes with my head held low
Without incitement of violence or venomous speech
I am simply seeking higher enlightenment
For a man who has the promise to work for the betterment of all Americans
Is an application for employment
The extension of a helping hand to be reciprocated
Or a serious waste of communication from the supremely unqualified
A wise woman once said
"Equality can't wait"
Does this include access to a luxurious life
Does this mean everyone's ideas now have equal value
Does everyone's ideas have the right to mass consumption and validation
Whose equality is the fight for
We all do not have the option to decline eviction moratoriums
Where one room in a small house is all afforded to you
Where government assistance to survive month to month is required
Where all you hear from leadership is
What we have now, we will try and get it to you later
My life is in crisis
I need money
I need help
I need security
Those are not provided to me though
So this truly better world that is only on the cusp
Is usually past tense for the speaker
And future tense for the supportive audience
I wish I could be granted freedom with such supernatural satiety
I forgive you for you know not what you do
